Alkmaar
The beautiful, old town of Alkmaar is a fifteen minute bike ride from
the studio. You will find countless canals, almshouses, monumental
buildings and nice shopping streets. Visit the cheese market, various
museums, or rent a boat to sail through the city. Alkmaar is bursting
with coffee shops, restaurants, cafes and other hotspots, so there is
no shortage of food and drinks. Fun day guaranteed.
Schoorl dunes
The Schoorlse Duinen nature reserve is within cycling distance of the
studio. You will find the highest dunes in the Netherlands, sand drifts,
forests, lakes, heathland and much more. There is a visitor center where
you can go for more information, walking and cycling routes. Got an
appetite? There is also a brasserie for an organic meal with various
regional products.
Geestmerambacht
The Geestmerambacht recreation area is within walking distance of
the studio. Here you can walk, cycle, swim, sail, mountain bike,
you name it. In addition to the large lake with a number of
beaches, you will also find nature playgrounds for children and
some catering establishments. Once a year (in June) you can enjoy
yourself at the Indian Summer Festival.
Museum Broekerveiling
Museum BroekerVeiling is not just a museum. In Broek op Langedijk
you can find the oldest sail-through auction in the world. This is
where the Dutch auction (also called a clock auction or
open-outcry descending-price auction) originated in 1887.
This type of auctioning is used at all large auction houses to
this day. Immerse yourself in history and experience how the
vegetable auction was run at the BroekerVeiling over a century
ago. Or rent a whisper boat and sail through the Realm of the
Thousand Islands. The museum is a fifteen minute bike ride from
the studio.
